Woodstock Dash to ‘push drivers and rigs to the limit’ in Kellerberrin

The Woodstock Off-Road Challenge returns in 2026, bringing an action-packed weekend of off-road 4WD and comp-truck events to Kellerberrin.

Taking place Live At The Hayshed from Friday, July 17, to Sunday, July 19, the event features intense racing, camping, and entertainment, drawing 4WD enthusiasts and spectators from across Western Australia.

This year comes the introduction of the Woodstock Dash, featuring three classes and six brutal tracks with winch walls and tank traps set to ‘push both rigs and drivers to the limit’.

Competitors will take on the ultimate lap, tackling every challenge back-to-back. Rigs will be sent one by one with staggered starts, racing to complete the course in the fastest time possible—with recovery crews ready and waiting.

Camping is available on-site with guests welcome to bring their own fire pits, food, and drinks—however, the site is entirely glass-free and pet-free.

Gascoyne Food Festival celebrates fresh flavours in 2026

Following a sold-out 2025 festival, the Gascoyne Food Festival returns this year with a program of immersive food, travel and storytelling experiences.

The festival is set to hit Carnarvon, Exmouth, Bullara and Dirk Hartog Island from Friday, August 21, to Sunday, September 6, and invites visitors on a journey through the Gascoyne region that connects food, culture and landscape.

Following Tropical Cyclone Narelle, this year marks an important moment for the festival, inviting visitors to experience the people, produce and landscapes of the unique Gascoyne region.

“This year’s festival is about more than simply returning,” said Festival Director Louise Cashmore. “It’s about showcasing the Gascoyne through experiences that are genuinely immersive, deeply connected to place and unlike anything else in Australia.”

The 2026 program has been curated as a place-led journey, bringing together chefs, growers, fishers, storytellers and cultural custodians.

Festival highlights include The Plantation Feast, set within a working mango plantation and curated by WA Good Food Guide Young Chef of the Year Jessica Roe. The multi-course menu showcases seasonal dining deeply connected to place.

Fireside Yarns: Land, Sea & Story is set to bring food, culture and storytelling together in an immersive evening led by acclaimed chef and storyteller Paul “Yoda” Iskov of Fervor.

A night of live music, fire-cooked food and outback energy, the Whalebone Hoe-Down brings together attendees for a celebration featuring bold regional flavours, live music and line dancing.

Attendees can also enjoy fire-cooked food, music and storytelling with the Bullara Station Feast.

Australia’s Last Sunset experience additionally allows attendees to watch the sun set over the Indian Ocean on one of Australia’s most remote islands before an evening of food and storytelling.

Classic Cruisers to drive for drought relief across WA

Classic 40 Series LandCruisers will roll out of Perth this October as part of a major fundraising convoy supporting farming families and regional communities across Western Australia.

Inspired by Queensland’s Long Drive for Drought, which has raised more than $700,000 since 2020, the inaugural West Coast Long Drive, 40’s for Farmers, will see convoy participants travel more than 3,000 kilometres from Perth to Exmouth Gulf from Saturday, October 3, to Sunday, October 11.

The eight-day journey will take drivers through the Wheatbelt, Mid-West and Gascoyne regions, with the event aiming to raise funds and awareness for rural charity Farm Angels while also supporting small towns along the route.

The convoy is set to highlight the ongoing challenges faced by farming and pastoral communities across WA.

“Behind farm gates across Western Australia, families are doing it harder than they let on,” organisers said. “That’s where Farm Angels come in.”

All funds raised through the event will go directly to Farm Angels, with participants covering their own fuel, accommodation and travel costs. The event will also encourage participants to spend money in regional communities along the way while connecting directly with farmers, growers and pastoralists.

The convoy’s focus on Toyota 40 Series LandCruisers is intended as a tribute to the durability and resilience of regional Australians. Produced between 1960 and 1984, the vehicles became synonymous with life in rural and remote Australia and remain a common sight on stations and farms across the country.

“There’s a reason you can still find them on stations from Esperance to the Pilbara—built simply, built honestly, built to last,” organisers said. “The convoy is a tribute to that durability and to the communities who relied on these rigs to keep going.”

Farm Angels provides direct support to farming families experiencing hardship, offering personalised assistance and welfare support through one-on-one contact.

The WA-focused event also shines a light on the unique pressures facing the state’s regional communities, including prolonged dry seasons, isolation and ongoing economic strain.

Half-price adventures on offer to boost Coral Coast recovery

A new voucher incentive program has been introduced to encourage travellers to head north and support Western Australia’s Coral Coast following the impacts of Cyclone Narelle in late March.

The new scheme offers 50 per cent off selected tours and experiences, with Exmouth, Coral Bay and Carnarvon once again welcoming visitors following extensive recovery work, while discounted flights into Exmouth are also available through the Affordable Airfares Program.

Part of the WA Government’s $1.45 million Cyclone Narelle Tourism Business Support Package, the initiative aims to boost visitation while helping local operators recover.

“For those considering a trip to Ningaloo, there’s never been a more meaningful time to travel,” Live Ningaloo owner Murray Pattison said. “Visitors can support local businesses and communities while experiencing one of Western Australia’s most remarkable destinations.”

The region’s Ningaloo/Nyinggulu Reef remains a major drawcard, especially in the winter months, with whale sharks and other marine life offering visitors the chance to enjoy bucket-list experiences including snorkelling, diving, cruises and reef tours.

“While some areas continue to recover, many tourism operators across the Ningaloo region are open and ready to welcome visitors with safe, high-quality experiences,” Bullara Station owner Edwina Shallcross said.

Travellers heading to the region are advised that several campgrounds sustained damage during Cyclone Narelle. Nyinggulara National Park (formerly Ningaloo Station), 14 Mile Campground in the Nyinggulu Coastal Reserves, Cape Range National Park’s Boat Harbour and One K campgrounds, and RAC Exmouth Cape Holiday Park have been closed or partially closed, with reopening dates varying between sites.

Murchison fires up for the Camp Oven Muster

The Murchison Camp Oven Muster, a weekend built on the simple things done well, is set to warm up the Murchison region this winter.

Kicking off at the Murchison Settlement from Friday, July 31 to Saturday, August 1, the event will feature a large range of activities, including camp oven cooking, live music, panel conversations and outback hospitality.

Gnulli Festival to celebrate community, culture and Country in Carnarvon

Carnarvon is set to take centre stage this May with the launch of the Gnulli Festival, a new cultural event celebrating community, culture and Country from Friday, May 22 to Sunday, May 24.

Held on Yinggarda Country, the Gnulli Festival—meaning ‘All of Us’ or ‘Two of Us’—celebrates the collaboration between Yinggarda and Baiyungu people, the two Aboriginal language groups of the region. The festival will bring together locals and visitors for a weekend of immersive cultural experiences, including a street festival, cultural workshops, live performances, a community concert and a large-scale drone show.

The Gnulli Festival has been developed in partnership between the Shire of Carnarvon, Baiyungu Aboriginal Corporation and Yinggarda Aboriginal Corporation, with Chevron Australia supporting the festival as principal sponsor.

The festival will be delivered as a pre-conference experience ahead of the WA Tourism Conference, taking place in Carnarvon from Monday, May 25 to Wednesday, May 27. It will feature headline acts including Shane Howard and Great Western Band, Caravana Sun, Kankawa Nagarra (known as Olive Knight), and local performers such as Proud Mary and Raymond Edney. Special appearances will also be made by Brooke Blurton and Matt Moncrieff, among others. The program will include a spectacular drone show delivered by Fremantle Biennale, with more announcements to come.

Shire President Eddie Smith said the introduction of the Gnulli Festival reflects both a celebration of culture and a strategic opportunity for the region.

“The Gnulli Festival is a significant and proud moment for the Shire of Carnarvon,” he said. “It provides an opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate the strength of our cultures, while also welcoming visitors to experience something truly unique ahead of the WA Tourism Conference.”

“With up to 90 per cent of visitors to Western Australia expressing interest in Aboriginal tourism, yet only a fraction engaging in those experiences, there is a clear opportunity for regions like Carnarvon and Coral Bay to lead in this space.”

The Gnulli Festival is expected to draw visitors from across Western Australia, encouraging delegates and travellers to arrive early for the WA Tourism Conference and providing a unique opportunity to experience the cultural richness of the Gascoyne region.

Variety WA’s 4WD Adventure returns with Pilbara to Paradise

Variety WA‘s 4WD Adventure returns with Pilbara to Paradise, an epic road trip beginning in Karratha and culminating at the Ningaloo Reef from Saturday, May 23 to Sunday, May 31.

The nine-day 4WD trek will take participants through the iconic Millstream National Park, known for its ancient landscapes, hidden waterholes, and spectacular scenery, and will end at the beautiful Ningaloo Coast.

Roll up for the WA Mack Muster and Truck Show

Gearheads, families and truck lovers across Western Australia are gearing up for the return of the biennial WA Mack Muster & Truck Show, rolling into Quarry Farm in Byford on Sunday, March 22 from 10am to 4pm.

Regarded as the state’s premier trucking showcase, the 2026 event will feature 350 trucks of every make, model and era—from lovingly restored vintage classics to the latest modern prime movers—all vying for a coveted spot in the ‘Winners Circle’.

The event donates 100% of proceeds to cutting-edge cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, with an 8,500-strong crowd of trucking enthusiasts, families and community members helping raise $500,000 towards vital research at the last event in 2024.

Set at Quarry Farm, 40 minutes south-east of Perth, the day will include hundreds of impressive trucks, live engine start-ups, award presentations, kids’ activities, supplier exhibits, food trucks and licensed bars, with free entry for children under 12.
