Classic 40 Series LandCruisers will roll out of Perth this October as part of a major fundraising convoy supporting farming families and regional communities across Western Australia.

Inspired by Queensland’s Long Drive for Drought, which has raised more than $700,000 since 2020, the inaugural West Coast Long Drive, 40’s for Farmers, will see convoy participants travel more than 3,000 kilometres from Perth to Exmouth Gulf from Saturday, October 3, to Sunday, October 11.

The eight-day journey will take drivers through the Wheatbelt, Mid-West and Gascoyne regions, with the event aiming to raise funds and awareness for rural charity Farm Angels while also supporting small towns along the route.

The convoy is set to highlight the ongoing challenges faced by farming and pastoral communities across WA.

“Behind farm gates across Western Australia, families are doing it harder than they let on,” organisers said. “That’s where Farm Angels come in.”

All funds raised through the event will go directly to Farm Angels, with participants covering their own fuel, accommodation and travel costs. The event will also encourage participants to spend money in regional communities along the way while connecting directly with farmers, growers and pastoralists.

The convoy’s focus on Toyota 40 Series LandCruisers is intended as a tribute to the durability and resilience of regional Australians. Produced between 1960 and 1984, the vehicles became synonymous with life in rural and remote Australia and remain a common sight on stations and farms across the country.

“There’s a reason you can still find them on stations from Esperance to the Pilbara—built simply, built honestly, built to last,” organisers said. “The convoy is a tribute to that durability and to the communities who relied on these rigs to keep going.”

Farm Angels provides direct support to farming families experiencing hardship, offering personalised assistance and welfare support through one-on-one contact.

The WA-focused event also shines a light on the unique pressures facing the state’s regional communities, including prolonged dry seasons, isolation and ongoing economic strain.
